                <text>A iconografia isabelina é um património artístico riquíssimo no domínio da escultura, da gravura, da pintura e do azulejo, com início ainda em vida da rainha, com a estátua jacente do túmulo gótico que ela própria mandou construir. Remonta, no entanto, à data da sua beatificação em 1520, o início de um importante ciclo iconográfico, que tem representações em todos os períodos e estilos artísticos até aos nossos dias, constituindo um património cultural cuja falta de estudo é uma lacuna grave que urge preencher.</text>

              <text>Encontra-se no Museu Soares dos Reis (item 186) o primeiro quadro com este tema pintado por João António Correia, Professor de Pintura Histórica na Academia Portuense de Belas Artes. O autor inspirou-se na “Estampa de la Reina Santa Isabel – A rainha distribuindo esmolas”, de Lallemant, de que terão sido feitas diversas cópias.	&#13;
A Rainha D. Isabel ocupa o centro da composição acompanhada de eclesiásticos que empunham uma cruz à porta de uma igreja, dando uma moeda a uma jovem mãe ajoelhada a seus pés  e integrada num grupo de pedintes.&#13;
Esta pintura utiliza  uma variada paleta cromática para dar uma versão colorida da gravura em que se inspira.</text>
